Service Credit

There are three types of service credits:

  1. Service credit for vacation leave accrual and for service award pins
  2. Service credit for retirement purposes (calculations provided by your Benefits contact)
  3. Service credit or seniority points for layoff purposes (calculations provided by Employee Relations)

Service Credit Awards

Service credit refers to your length of service with the University of California, the UC Office of the President (UCOP), California State Universities, Department of Energy Laboratories, and other California state agencies. Let your HR Representative know if you have prior service and they will work with Records to calculate service credits, request your award, and enter your new leave accrual code in payroll. Notify your HR Representative if you were expecting an award and didn’t receive it.
