New Employee Information
Congratulations on your new appointment and welcome to UC San Diego! Information provided here covers new hire required training, deadlines for orientations and benefits enrollment.
Single Sign-On Registration
You will need a Single Sign-On account to access business systems, enroll in benefits, register for training, and register for your new employee orientation.
New Employee Orientation
New staff employees must attend this orientation within the first 30 days of employment. Registration is required through the UC Learning Center. If you are unable to register by the Thursday prior to the orientation please contact your HR Representative right away. If you are not registered you will be turned away.
Benefits Enrollment
You have 31 days from your start date to enroll in benefits. We strongly encourage you to attend the Benefits Orientation which will provide you with an overview of all of the plans and give you an opportunity to ask questions. Registration is not required.
Required Training
Cyber Security, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and FERPA training may be completed online in UC Learning. Register in UC Learning to attend classroom training for Injury & Illness Prevention Program.
Ergonomic Training
Recommended for everyone and required for CX union positions.
Payroll Direct Deposit
Recommended for all paid staff. Direct deposit action will take effect about 30 days after you enter your information into the system. You will continue to receive a paper check until then.
Transfer Employee Information
Congratulations on your new appointment and welcome to your new department. Please read the information below to find out about required training, business systems access, and other information.
If you are transferring from a Limited or Temporary Employment Services (TES) position to a career position, please read the information about the New Employee Orientation and Benefits Enrollment. If you were previously a career employee, your benefits will continue and you are not required to attend the New Employee Orientation. If you have questions, please contact your HR Representative.

Your Business Systems ID will change. Your supervisor will provide new login information.

Leave Accruals
Your vacation and sick leave will transfer with you to your new department. If you have compensatory time accrued in your prior department, please confirm with your previous department it will be paid out.
